Renewable Solutions Markets

Wind energy projects may be developed in multiple ways. While Renewable Solutions focuses on two models, Independent Power Producer and Build-Transfer, the company provides project flexibly to achieve ultimate cost competitiveness.

  • Independent Power Producer (IPP): Renewable Solutions owns the wind energy facility and arranges for the purchase of project’s energy output either through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) or selling into the wholesale power market. In either scenario Renewable Solutions leases the land for the project, making payments to the landowners in accordance with the lease agreement. The IPP model allows for flexibility both in project ownership and investment structure.
  • Build-Own-Transfer (BOT): Renewable Solutions develops, owns and operates the wind project for a specified period of time. Following that time, project ownership transfers to a new owner. Landowners will receive payments through lease agreement.
  • Build-Transfer: Renewable Solutions develops the wind energy project and once the project achieves final completion, or a certain stage of development, a new owner assumes majority ownership. Landowners receive payments through lease agreement.
  • Behind-the-Meter: A large energy user installs wind turbines at or near their facility with the intent of using the project’s output for internal uses. In some cases, the end user will arrange to sell the excess energy output from the wind power facility to a third party.
